The jump host no longer depends on hardware that was replaced

The machine used as the administrative entry point had its network configuration tied to a specific piece of virtual hardware from the platform it was migrated away from. That hardware no longer exists.

It worked, but only because nothing had needed to replace that component. Any routine repair would have left the machine with no network and no way in except a physical console. The configuration now identifies the network card by role rather than by serial number, so a replacement is no longer an outage.
