Phase 8.9 — Migration off TeamViewer

TeamViewer has been the go-to tool for remote troubleshooting on client computers, but its free tier has kept tightening — commercial-use detection, session time limits, and pricing aimed squarely at exactly this kind of ad-hoc remote support. The next detection or limit change could cut off a support session with no warning.

This phase replaces it with a tool we control: no commercial-use flagging, no session caps, and no licence check that can lock out a session in progress.

What this phase does

  • Pick and deploy a self-hosted or licence-free remote-support tool for client computers.
  • Migrate every client machine currently reached through TeamViewer onto the replacement.
  • Retire TeamViewer from the curated software list once the migration is complete.

No impact until the cutover — TeamViewer keeps working on a given machine until its replacement is in place.
