A server is published under a decommissioned machine's identity

The permanent name of a recently rebuilt server resolved to an address where nothing answered.

The network equipment still held a reservation tying that machine's hardware address to its previous role, so it announced the server under the retired identity and at the old address. A second, stale reservation from the machine it replaced still claimed the correct address.

Both were corrected. The retired machine now holds no reservation at all, so it cannot collide with anything when it is next powered on.
